R.E.S.P.E.C.T. R.E.S.P.E.C.T. is a body of work in progress. The idea is to make pictures of women in empowerment, sort of anti-People Magazine, showing that women are beautiful for whom they are and what they do. Not merely how they look. Originally, I wanted to call this project Hot Bitches. I liked the concept of using a derogatory, misogynist, and sexist term and subversively flipping it on itself. NO ONE GOT IT. No one understood that it was pro-woman and anti-sexist, thus the name change. Yes, R.E.S.P.E.C.T. is a nod to the great song by Aretha Franklin. So far, all of the pictures are made of a constructed panorama, a series of images to create one new image evoking an imposed visual language rather than a strict document.
